June 20th, 2008 I am rewriting some pages on the site and will be getting rid of some pages from when this was an HBS Support site. It's official: The AMA (American Medical Association) officially endorses the HBIGDA (Wpath) Standards of Care as the appropriate and accepted treatment for transgender and transsexual people. You will notice that NOWHERE is HBS or Harry Benjamin Syndrome mentioned or sanctioned. This means the AMA does not endorse HBS or their Standards. The choice is simple and between the SOC endorsed by lay people and the SOC endorsed by the AMA. August 3rd, 2007 Meanwhile, over at Yahoo HBS Support Group they are still practicing medicine without a license. An Intersex user who was born with both Testes and Ovaries was banned as a fetishist. Obviously who knows more, the user's Doctor or Charlotte Goiar (Guren)? Talk about malpractice. They continue to say therapists can't be trusted and know nothing depite more years of schooling than they have. Now, MD's according to them, don't know anything either. I always thought practicing medicine without a license was against the law. I guess we have to ask ourselves who should we trust Harry Benjamin Syndrome (HBS) to, a Doctor or a woman with magic dust who dances to the drumbeat of a native tribe with bones dangling from her neck?
July 14th, 2007 Laura's HBS Medical Disclaimer This site is undergoing a drastic redesign and change of mission In recent days A lot has happened. Investigations reveal that HBS is a "Medical Fraud". The author Charlotte T Guren is not a doctor and unqualified to Write Medical Standards of Care for anyone. HBS is her "opinion" as well as her terminology. No layperson can invent their own medical syndrome. Charlotte used Harry Benjamin's name to legitimize her theory and fool everyone into believing it was a real syndrome. It is NOT accepted by a single medical authority. People were told they did not need therapy and Her YAhoo Group according to her are the only ones who can diagnose you without a medical exam. "They have a feeling for these things" she says. From Peer pressure she is changing her site to reflect it as a proposal. In the meantime Many people have been misled causing irreparable harm to some.. I have confirmed with Wpath who now administers the HBIGDA Standards of Care version 6 that they are the only authorized Treatment for Transsexualism. If you feel that you have HBS please follow these guidlines. Anything else is medically dangerous and irresponsible. Charlottes yahoo group is really a LGBT hate group. The group is Anti-transgender, not pro HBS. If you disagree with them you will be diagnosed as a fetishist, pervert or gay (another slur was used here). Many minority group slurs against GLBT members have been used there. Transcripts have been obtained for this group to prove this many times over. More will be revealed here in the coming days. The following forum group used to contain former members of the Harry Benjamin Syndrome Yahoo Group including myself. Talk with them first hand to get their stories.
